It's Not About If Life Hits You — It's When

I want you to think about this with me for a second.

Take banks, for example. They have this thing called risk management. I don't know the exact industry standard, maybe it's around a 20% default rate. That means for every 10 people they give credit to, 2 are guaranteed not to pay. They'll have bad credit, they'll default, whatever. But guess what? The bank still makes money. They're not delusional enough to think everyone will pay back. They already expect failure.

Same with Walmart. Their whole brand is "everyday low prices," but they get sued every single day. Just last year alone, they spent almost $2 billion on lawsuits and theft. And yet, they're still standing.

Even in my own small business, I've had to do the same thing. I have insurance, sure, but I still set money aside just knowing that things will go wrong. It's not about if, it's about when.

The Personal Reality

And that's where this gets personal. Because life itself works the same way. We're all going to face our share of defaults and lawsuits, just in different forms. If it's not money problems, it's health problems. If it's not heartbreak, it's betrayal. If it's not addiction, it's death. And if somehow you dodge all of that, life will hit someone close to you and break you through them. Nobody escapes.

That's why I don't want you to just hope for the best. I want you to get ready. Life will throw its punches. I need you to build the kind of mind that can take every hit and still keep standing.

The Mindset You Need

I love how Jawaharlal Nehru put it: "I want to meet my troubles head-on. I want to see myself tossed into the aperture between the two horns of the bull. And being there, I determine that I am going to win, because such a fight requires all my faculties."

That's the mindset you need to survive this world. You don't pray for the storms to never come. You learn how to stand tall when they do.

In the real world, they call it insurance. I call it mental armor.

Prepare yourself. It doesn't matter if you're ready or not. Life is coming.
